Lacrosse is played in the Spring. Practices begin mid-March dependent on weather. The boys and girls seasons run from mid March through May or 1st weekend in June. Typically there are no games scheduled Easter and Memorial Day weekends.
When and where practices and games?
Boys practices and home games are planned to be at Bicentennial Park in East Allen Township and Girls practices and home games are planned to be at Jacksonville Park in East Allen Township. Younger (K-4) laxers will have 1-2 practices per week and older (5-8) will have 2-3 practices per week. Games are typically Saturdays, but can be Sundays too. Weekday games are less frequent. Optional preseason skills/drills sessions may be offered. Games will begin around the first weekend in April.
I am not sure my athlete can make every practice, can my athlete still play?
Yes! For any team sport and individual to be successful, commitment and effort are needed to be at practice on time and participate with 100% effort. If there is conflict and practices will be late or missed, this is okay. Please communicate with your coach prior.
Is Northampton Area Youth Lacrosse part of a municipality or athletic association?
No. Northampton Area Youth Lacrosse is an independent program not associated with a community program. The club does not have subsidies from a municipal entity, thus requiring us to lease field space.
My son/daughter plays other sports, is it possible to play both?
Northampton Lacrosse aligns its belief with current sports psychology research, that young players should experience as many sports as possible as a youth athlete and avoid early specialization. We often have youth players who share the practice week with other sports. As players transition to Middle School and above is when they should start to decide. At 5/6th and 7/8th grade is when A & B divisions start to develop, players who want to continue to play multiple sports and share the practice week can play B and players who have committed to lacrosse can play A at the older levels.
